Starting from humble beginnings in 2010, KeyPay was born when Phil Bernie and Richard McLean decided to create a more accessible version of payroll utilising the capacity of the “cloud” to make payroll easier for all to access.
Our Story
KeyPay is a cloud-based workforce management and payroll platform. In a single, integrated platform, KeyPay automates the flow of data from employees across rosters, timesheets, leave management, and reporting, providing full client visibility of the pay run at all times.
Launching in Australia in 2012, KeyPay dramatically changed the payroll landscape by offering clients a fully flexible, customisable solution catering to the diverse business needs of Australian businesses.

The Founders
In October 2011 KeyPay went to market with Paul Duran and Kristian Reynolds joining the founder group, with Webscale Pty Ltd becoming the intellectual owner of KeyPay.

The market fit
The private beta ran for 12 months, applying all user feedback to deliver the workflows you still see in the product today. Since the public release on the 1st of July 2012, we have invested heavily in our people and product, allowing us to deliver a truly unique product unrivalled in the market.

Automating obligations for March 2020 Modern Award changes
As of 1 March 2020, the Fair Work Commission rolled out changes to several Modern Awards, including the requirement for employers to ensure annualised wage employees are paid no less than what they would have received if paid under an affected award. KeyPay is the only payroll software in Australia that streamlines these obligations.
